My anxiety has been at an all time high since January 20. I always find that weaving decreases this stress, especially when I weave pieces that directly refer to the social injustices that are bothering me. So the fist of a series of possibly 4 tapestries will be about DEI.
I designed this piece with the intent of having an abstract piece that could be interpreted by the viewer. I’m once again using color to support my intention for the piece. There will be a circle of human flesh colors surrounding a DNA strand to represent diversity and the background will have the rainbow flag colors for inclusion. I've just started working on the DNA strand in the center and I'm using a twill weave and supplemental warp to help the DNA stand out from the piece.
